23 Years Behind the Lens...
I've had the privilege of doing something I love to earn a living since 1991. My first taste of television journalism came in the studio at WKRC-TV12 in Cincinnati, Ohio while still attending college in the early 90's. Upon graduating from the University of Cincinnati, I sought out and found employment as a TV news videographer in Macon, Georgia. After a short stint covering the happenings in the heart of peach country, I landed a job closer to home in Columbus, Ohio shooting news in the state capitol. My eyes were still set on being a part of the Cincinnati journalism community and through perseverance and perhaps a little good timing, I found myself behind the lens of a WLWT-TV5 news camera in late 1993 where I have remained ever since. Cincinnati is my hometown and I feel like I'm playing an important role documenting our history for current and future generations.
Honored for Excellence...
In 2007, I was honored along with reporter, Dave Wagner & producer, Carolyn Hong by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with Three Emmy awards for our achievement in investigative journalism. That same year, we were awarded the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for our investigation into the causes and effects of prostitution in Cincinnati entitled, "The Changing Face of Prostitution"
In The Air & On The Air
This is a clip from News 5 at Noon where I was asked to report on the crash involving a dump truck and a school bus. I was operating the camera mounted on our helicopter, "Sky 5" at the same time.
Live Reporting on Breaking News
This is a clip from News 5 where I was covering what turned out to be a gruesome discovery by police in Hillsboro, Ohio of the body of a murdered woman that had been stuffed into a 55 gallon drum and buried on someone's personal property. I talked with anchor, Dave Wagner on the air about what police had found.
